How to Care for Your Ohhio Braid Blanket

Ohhio Braid is a material designed with practicality in mind. We took our favorite chunky Merino wool and reimagined it as durable and machine-washable. But that’s not all when it comes to caring for your mat, blanket, or pet bed. Read on to learn how to keep your Braid creation as soft and beautiful as the day it came.

Machine Wash

Wash Braid in a washing machine in cold water and on the gentle setting. Washing it in warm water may give a deeper clean, but will also result in fading the Braid’s color. Use a color-safe laundry detergent and, optionally, fabric softener.

If your Braid creation cannot fit into the washing machine you have at home, use a laundromat or wash by hand.

Dry Flat

Braid will dry well in a tumble dryer, however you should know that all machine dryers damage textiles. During the drying process, heat and friction cause small fibers to dislodge and become lint. When you clean the lint from your tumble dryer, you are collecting parts of the clothes your dryer damaged.

That’s why it’s best to lay Braid out flat on a clothes rack. If you don’t have one, lay it on any flat surface and be sure to flip it periodically to provide access to air.

Spot Clean

Your Braid creation will collect dust, lint, and hair from your home due to static sticking. This is easily remedied.

Give your blanket a nice vigorous shake, and most of the things stuck to it will dislodge. Shaking it will also take care of any deformed stitch your blanket might have. If shaking it doesn’t do a thorough enough job, you can use a lint roller to collect any dust that the blanket collected.

If you only need to clean a certain part of the blanket, it’s better to wash the spot by hand rather than machine-wash the whole blanket. Gently clean the stained area using a sponge and laundry detergent and lay flat to dry.

That’s it! If you have any question, leave them in the comments and we’ll help you out.
